Doin' The Robot Dance

It's time for the Ultimate Blog Party!

Welcome to Quirky is a Compliment, blog partiers! (Yes, I'm the one doing the robot dance over in the corner). Feel free to let your inner-quirk run amok here...Heaven knows that I do. As a matter of fact, that where the title came from...my very own mother described me as Quirky one day, and while I was trying to decide whether or not to be insulted, she went on to explain that she meant the unique things that each of us bring to the table, and that I should take it as a compliment. So I do, and here I am.

Currently I'm 27, married, no kids, 2 cats (Hey! They count!), working full time and getting my MBA at night. I live in beautiful Knoxville TN, in the heart of the Smokies. (If you want to know more random stuff about me, see the 100 things link. If you want to know more about life in Tennessee, see Tennessee Living).

The blog is a bit of a mixed bag- a few stories, a few DIY projects, a few daily accounts, a few funny things, a few serious things, even a recipe or two. For example, yesterday I recounted a light-hearted story about my evil childhood school bus driver. The day before that, I was attempting to convince my husband that we absolutely needed a hot tub (anybody out there have one? Do you like it?). Last weekend I worked on a DIY custom cat tree/scratching post project. Before that, I was doing the funky chicken dance in the middle of my office because I found out that I got an A on my Marketing Strategy paper. You get the idea. You never know what you're going to get, but chances are it will be quirky.

But enough about me. Tell me about you. I'm a bit of a blog addict, and am looking for some new blogs to add to my daily reading collection. Leave a comment with your blog address and I'll come check you out.

Anyway, thanks for coming to the blog party! You want some punch or something? I'm parched from doing the Robot all day.

Oh, and just in case I get picked for a fabulous prize, here's my wish list:

Hey, your party post is so good. I love all the links. Now I need to go change mine and add some stuff!

(I just realized that I still haven't done the tag you tagged me with - Why can't we just have 48 hours in a day??)

Still can't get into the 5min site. Hope they're back up soon.

Happy Blogging Party!!! I love everything quirky. The Robot dance is great. I'm down the road in Nashville. Way to go on the paper. I want to make a cat tree too, but it's on the long list of things to eventually do.

It's nice to meet you.

I stopped by your blog primarily because of the name! Quirky is catchy :-) And I'll be stopping by again, 'cause you sound like a fun girl to follow.
I love Tennessee! My dad was from there and when he was alive we'd go down frequently. Now I'm sorry to say we just drive through on our way to other places.
One of my favorite vacations was meandering through Tennessee for a week. No plan, no schedule, just a few places we wanted to see and a AAA book as a reference to decent hotels. Lots of fun!

Blogger just ate my comment! Just so you know if it shows up again, I'm not really losing it!

I have to agree that quirky is a good thing. Who wants to be boring and normal like everyone else anyways?

My poor mother was resigned to having "grandcats" for the longest time. She spoiled them rotten.

Thanks for dropping in - I called someone quirky once and she was offended, though I meant it like your Mom!

I love your mother's definition of quirky. It sounds like a wonderful complement that way. I think it is important that each of us has our own uniqueness.

Thanks for stopping by my blog party. You have a great blog. I plan to be back often.

My husband and I have a hot tub. It came with the house when we purchased it. We have used it and enjoyed it but mostly we have NOT used it. When we started trying to get pregnant is is advised not to get in as it can affect fertility. Since we had fertility issues anyway, we did not want to do anything extra to negatively affect it. Also, once you build a porch or something around it in your house, you will probably have to sell it with your house. That is why we had one when we purchased our house. The porch was specifically designed to accommodate the hot tub. When we do use it, we enjoy it most in the fall, winter, and early spring. Somehow sinking into that hot water on a cool, crisp evening is heavenly.

Jean @ Penny Lane said...

Hello -- thanks for stopping by Penny Lane and leaving me a comment. Quirky is good! Your blog is great and I love the names of your cats!

Something less expensive than a hot tub, is to replace your tub with a whirpool bathtub. It is less expensive. But then again, you might want the hot tub to fit two or more people. But then again, if you have a whirpool tub, and after you have children, you would find it very convenient to go in there, shut the door, relax and hopefully not be disturbed!
I know this for a fact as I have lived through it.

I'll take some punch!

I was totally reeled in by your blog title - I too have been described as 'quirky'...is it just me or does it always feel like it's in quotes when someone says it?

But I agree - a little quirky is a fantabulous thing!!

Thanks for the fantastic party! I'll be back to visit often!

Quirky bloggers unite!

That's not the title of my blog, but I think of myself that way.

It's fun to get to know you a little bit, and I'm envious of your location. I live in the flat Midwest. And I don't even have a hot tub. How boring is that?

So maybe I've grown quirky to add a little interest to my world?

Hey, I lived in Tennessee once. Sorry, I was in Memphis, not Knoxville. I've been to Knoxville though.

Definitely get the hot tub. Or, at least get the whirlpool soaking tub. Anybody working on an MBA needs it.

I love the name of your blog and the way your sense of humor spills onto the page as you write. I’d luv to see your ‘funky chicken dance’ …(congrats on earning the only ‘A’ on that paper). You make me wish California was closer to Tennessee. I’ve got a hot tub … and some freshly squeeze lemonade. Stop on by Small Reflections, grab some snacks from my 'party post' and we’ll get better acquainted.
Hugs and blessings,

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm having trouble getting through all the blogs too - ooof! I think our latest addition has a bit of Siamese in her - she has the beautiful triangle face, and she hardly ever shuts up. I can be in one room with her in the other, and be talking to her, and she'll talk right back to me. I'm excited to see the pics of the kitty tree! Happy blog party!!!

hello. nice to meet you. I guess I'm a bit quirky too, although most people I know have other words to describe it. I see you're from Tennessee. I'm from Alabama, so I've been through Tennessee quite a few times. I love the Smokies/Gatlinburg. It's so beautiful up there, and the family friendly atmosphere is great. And I like Chattanooga too.
